Centre set up to train unemployed youth

SWABI: The IT centre established in Islamabad as part of the Prime Minister’s High Impact Technology Initiative in collaboration with Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training will impart quality training and skills to unemployed educated youth to enable them to play a role in economic progress.

This was stated on Wednesday by Engr Salim Saifullah Khan, the president of the Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SOPREST), the parent body of GIK Institute.

He said that during his visit to the centre, he was briefed by Shakil Durrani, Executive Director of SOPREST, on the overall progress and scope of the project which would produce professionals. The president of SOPREST emphasised the significance of GIK Institute’s role in this initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility, aiming to provide quality training and skills to the nation’s unemployed youth.

He said he met with the students, especially the women who were acquiring training at the centre, underscoring the importance of empowering women through skill development, which he noted as crucial for the country’s progress and economic prosperity. Salim Saifullah Khan praised the rapid infrastructure development achieved in a short time for the centre by the Ministry of Federal Education and GIK Institute.
