Judge injured in firing by rivals

HARIPUR: A serving district judge was injured when his alleged rivals opened fire on him, police and family sources said here on Wednesday.

The judge sustained three bullet wounds and was shifted to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad where his condition was out of danger, hospital and police sources said. Police quoted the injured Farid Khan Alizai, a resident of Chohr Shareef village, who is currently serving as district and session judge Kohistan, as saying that he was on the way to mosque to offer isha prayer, when Ghayur, Jehangir and Shabir, sons of Fareed Khan, opened fire on him with pistols, leaving him injured.

The injured judge was shifted to theTrauma Centre where the doctors confirmed that he had sustained three bullet wounds in his right thigh and left ankle and foot.He was taken to Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad where his condition was out of danger.

The motive behind the attack on the judge was an old rivalry between the two families that started in 2017 and the judge and his brother, Nasir Khan, were facing criminal trials in a local court, police said.

Meanwhile, the City Police Station’s SHO Ihjaz Ali Khan has said that an FIR under section 324/34, 109 of the PPC has been registered and three out of the four nominated accused have been arrested while the raids were being conducted for the fleeing accused.
