Mpox alarm

Pakistan might be seriously at risk if mpox were to spread throughout the nation due to its large population and inadequate healthcare system. The Covid-19 pandemic taught us important lessons about the value of early discovery, quick action, and public awareness. Regretfully, in spite of these insights, we are still ill-equipped to deal with novel and developing illnesses.

The government and public health authorities must immediately step up their surveillance at airports and other entry points where passengers from impacted areas may arrive. Public awareness efforts should also be initiated in order to inform the public about the symptoms and modes of transmission of mpox, which will help to ensure that any possible cases are quickly reported and isolated.
