Petition filed for Imran’s check-up by personal physicians
Founder PTI’s lawyer Intizar Panjutha in petition said it is right of founder PTI to seek treatment from personal physicians
ISLAMABAD: A petition has been filed in the Islam High Court (IHC) for a medical check-up of PTI founder imprisoned in Adiala Jail.
The petitioner requested the court personal physicians should be allowed for unhindered medical check-ups of founder PTI Imran Khan. A 15-day schedule should be arranged for medical examination of founder PTI, the petitioner pleaded.
The petitioner said Dr Asim Yusuf, Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Samina Niazi should be allowed to conduct medical check-up of Imran Khan.
Founder PTI’s lawyer Intizar Panjutha in the petition said it is the right of founder PTI to seek treatment from personal physicians. Imran’s personal therapists have been treating him since his youth, he argued.
The petitioner said despite repeated orders of the trial court, the jail administration is not allowing check-ups. “Denial of treatment by a personal physician is against the right to life under Article 9 of the Constitution”, he said. Denial of access to personal physicians threatens life of founder PTI, he further said.
“Unfortunately, other political prisoners are given VIP treatment in the jail”, the petition said, adding “Jail administration is not even ready to provide basic rights to founder PTI”. Ministry of Interior and Superintendent Adiala Jail have been made parties in the petition.
