DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Tuesday ruled out any alliance against the government, saying they would run their anti-government activities on their own.

“Our experience of alliance in the past has not been good so we will continue our struggle on our own,” he told reporters here. However, he said that they would join other political parties on various issues.

“We are talking to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on an issue to issue basis instead of entering into a political alliance,” he clarified. He said that the JUIF had a bitter experience of political alliance, therefore, the party was trying to lower tension with the PTI. He said that his party was striving to ensure the holding of the free, fair and transparent elections in the country and stop interference of the army in civilian matters.

He said his party did not have any animosity towards either the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz or the Pakistan People’s Party, adding the JUIF leadership had its own stance about the policies of the country. He said that he should be convinced through logical arguments instead of trying to appease him.

He said the imperialist forces had weakened after the Second World War so now they were trying to influence the developing countries through the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund instead of attacking them directly. He said diplomatic and economic ties with China were the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

He said the objections made by the Western world to Pakistan’s relations with its neighbouring countries was against our sovereignty. He said the main reason for the political instability of the country was the outcome of the 2024 general election. He said political parties, including the JUIF and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, had expressed no trust in the 2024 polls. The Maulana said the religious and nationalist forces were kept outside the Parliament, which he added, created political imbalance in the country.

To a question, he said his party considered national security of utmost importance, therefore, he would try to persuade Manzoor Pashteen of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement and other political forces to show moderation.

The Maulana said his party believed in launching a struggle to achieve the rights of the oppressed people of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within the ambit of the constitution.
