Islamabad:The Floral Art Society of Pakistan (FASP) Magnolia chapter held their monthly meeting at Serena Hotel. The meeting began with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Sarwat Aslam and was followed by a demonstration on the topic, “Ethnic Embellishment,” by one of the founding members of FASP, Farhat Zaman, a multi-talented personality and an acclaimed artist. Collage is her forte and this time she used it in a different perspective, featuring four ethnic groups of the country, Kalaash, Kuchi, Punjab and Thar.
The demonstration was accompanied by a multimedia presentation to accentuate all the important points, accompanied by enchanting folk music. She presented four unusual jewellery combinations on four mannequins, each representing a chosen culture, consisting of head gear, necklaces, rings, bangles, hair embellishments and even rings to be worn on toes - an extra ordinary show of handmade artistic jewellery with plant material, meticulously and aesthetically detailed. She explained every single plant material she used and how to preserve them.
The session ended with a question answer session. In conclusion she was presented a token of appreciation by the president of Lotus Chapter, (Peshawar) Farah Saranjam. Needless to say many photographs were taken as these beautiful creations certainly looked more beautiful than the gold items and would surely get admired for being so unique and different!
