Cleaner thrashed, arrested for attempting to assault minor

LAHORE:An employee of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was allegedly caught while attempting to sexually harass a five-year-old girl. A janitorial staff member tried to molest the female child, as child's mother raised hue and cry.

The relatives of the patient and other visitors thrashed the employee after the child's mother raised the alarm. The accused was handed over to the police.

The child's mother, however, gave a written statement that she does not want further action against the accused as the eye-witnesses already beat the accused enough. The Sir Ganga Ram Hospital MS Dr Moin informed that the accused belonged to a private cleaning company, which fired the accused from the job. The proceedings against the accused are in progress at Civil Line Police Station, said the MS.

Earlier, the relatives of the victim also held a protest demonstration against alleged child molestation in the hospital. Meanwhile, the YDA Punjab President Dr Shoaib Niazi, in a press conference, also demanded justice for the victim and her family.

Man arrested over bid to rape his daughter-in-law

Kot Lakhpat police arrested a man for attempting to rape his daughter-in-law. The accused, identified as Haneef, had been attempting to rape his daughter-in-law in the absence of his son for the past few months. The police have registered a case against him and handed him over to the Gender Cell for further investigation.

Two held for trying to throw daughter into Ravi

Police arrested a man and his nephew for attempting to throw his daughter into the Ravi River on Tuesday. Barkat Ali, along with his nephew Muhammad Amin, had brought his daughter to the Ravi River on Kattarband Road. A security guard, suspicious of their actions, called emergency services. The Dolphin team responded, reached the scene, and rescued the girl. The girl, identified as Sania, revealed that her father had brought her to the river with the intention of killing her. Barkat Ali and Muhammad Amin have been detained. Both the girl and the accused have been handed over to the Chuhng police station.

Woman shot dead by husband

A 34-year-old woman was shot dead by her husband in the Barki police area on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Aftab from Barki village, shot at his wife in the chest. The injured woman was rushed to hospital, where she died. Body was shifted to the mortuary. A case was registered against the accused Aftab on the complaint of the victim's father Manzoor Hussain.

Violence victim rescued

Nishtar Colony police rescued a girl who had been the victim of violence and abuse. The Virtual Women Police Station received a call about violence against the girl. The girl reported that her relatives were planning to kill her and pleaded to be saved. Nishtar Colony police was dispatched to her location. The girl was rescued and sent to a shelter home.

Two found dead

Two persons were found dead at separate locations here in the City on Tuesday. The body of a 50-year-old man was found near Gulshan Ravi Moon Market and a 35-year-old man was recovered dead from Butt Chowk, Ghaziabad. Police claimed that both the men, yet to be identified, were addicts who might have died of excessive use of drugs. The bodies were shifted to the mortuary by Edhi Ambulance.

Body found

Body of a youth, who went missing from the Faisal Town locality, was recovered from Ichhara area on Tuesday. According to police, Farrukh had left his home on Sunday and did not return and his car was found abandoned in the Faisal Town area. Police is investigating the cause of his death.
