Four people, including a traffic police official, were killed in road traffic accidents in the city on Monday. Two people were killed in an accident near Karsaz, and one each in two accidents in North Nazimabad.

A woman driver, identified as Natasha, allegedly killed two people and injured three others near Karsaz, following which police and Rangers rushed to the spot and took her to the police station with her vehicle.

According to details, the woman’s speeding jeep rammed into several vehicles near the Pakistan Maritime Museum, resulting in the deaths of a young woman and an elderly man on the spot, and injuries to three other people.

Police said the casualties were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the deceased were identified as Amina Arif, 26, and Imran Arif, 60, while one of the injured was identified as Abdus Salam, 55, son of Ishaq.

As a result of the accident, the parked vehicles were also severely damaged. The woman responsible for the accident was apparently trying to escape after abandoning her vehicle, but a group of people gathered at the scene caught her.

Eyewitnesses claimed that Natasha was trying to escape. Police said that six vehicles, including four motorbikes, were damaged in the accident. They detained the woman responsible, and impounded her vehicle (registration No. BY-0033).

The detained woman is a resident of KDA Scheme-I. She was going through the service road near Karsaz when, according to her, her car got out of control and caused the accident. Police took the woman to a hospital for a medical check-up. Her husband also reached the police station after receiving information of the incident.

Separately, Police Constable Mohammad Aqeel, 52, was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle near the Abdullah College in North Nazimabad. Police said he was posted at the Peerabad Traffic Section. He was on duty when a speeding vehicle crushed him to death and sped away.

He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police handed over his body to his family after completing the due process. Officials said they are searching for CCTV camera footage to bring the culprit to justice. In another accident, Mohammad Hanif, 45, son of Salamuddin, was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near KDA Chowrangi in North Nazimabad Town’s Hyderi locality.
