Non-availability of ambulance: ‘Services patient dragged on stretcher on Jail Road’
LAHORE:The medical staff of Services Hospital, Lahore, transferred a patient from the emergency ward to the indoor ward while dragging his stretcher on the main Jail Road.
The ambulance was not available to transfer patient from emergency ward to neuro ward. A video shows a ward boy was carrying patient's stretcher on the main Jail Road in the middle of a heavy traffic flow. While the corridors within the hospital were closed and ambulance unavailable, the patient had to be taken via main road as service lane was also unusable due to accumulation of rainwater and encroachments. The Medical Superintendent of the Services Hospital Dr Muhammad Mudabbir said the incident was staged to defame the hospital's administration as certain elements were active against the administration. However, he said the incident was being investigated to ascertain the facts. However, he also said that there is a positive side to this video as well because the hospital administration was not leaving the patients unattended and doing everything to facilitate them despite paucity of facilities.
