LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, along with PMLN President Nawaz Sharif, met British High Commissioner Jane Marriott in Murree here on Sunday and discussed cooperation in the fields of education, health, climate change and others.
“Punjab has entered the era of digitalisation and will soon lead it,” said Maryam in her meeting with Jane Marriott. The meeting also discussed matters related to increasing opportunities for higher education in the top UK universities for the students of Punjab. Political Counsellor of British High Commissioner Islamabad Zoe Ware was also present.
The Punjab CM briefed the British HC about the ongoing IT projects in Punjab. She said, “The project of Nawaz Sharif IT City Twin Towers in Lahore is fast-tracked to completion.”
She invited the British companies to invest in the Nawaz Sharif IT city. “British institutions will be welcomed to establish IT universities.” She briefed Jane Marriott on sustainable measures taken by the Punjab government to eliminate environmental pollution. The two sides agreed to benefit from mutual expertise in tackling challenges of climate change.
The CM also apprised Jane Marriott about the key performance indicators system for monitoring of police and administration in Punjab to improve governance quality. She also updated her on the solar panel project in Punjab.
