Mpox patient quarantined in Mardan

MARDAN: The authorities started taking protective measures as a man infected by monkeypox was quarantined in the Mangah area.

According to District Health Officer Dr Javed Iqbal, the patient was quarantined at home where his condition was improving while the locality was disinfected.Mardan Deputy Commissioner Mian Behzad Adil visited Mardan Medical Complex and District Headquarters Hospital.

Mardan DHO Javed Iqbal and Additional Assistant Commissioner Shagufta Sarwar accompanied him.He visited various wards and labs of the hospital, and especially the Monkeypox Ward and took information about the arrangements and facilities and services available there.

It may be noted here the first death from the Covid-19 virus had occurred in the same union council, Manga, where the patient had returned from Saudi Arabia.However, a 34-year-old man, identified as Said Muslim, a resident of Dir, currently living at Manga union council, had returned from Saudi Arabia on August 3 and tested positive for the monkeypox virus.It was learnt that he was admitted for treatment at a health facility but he left the hospital on his own.
