Rawalpindi:A protest was held outside the Dum Dama Temple Dingi Khoi, led by Vice Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, Raza Ahmad Shah, in response to efforts by Awqaf to evict Kashmiri migrant families who have been residing in the temple for seventy-seven years, says a press release.
The demonstration saw significant participation from business leaders and civil society members, who joined in solidarity with the affected families. Addressing the protesters, Raza Ahmad Shah emphasised that these Kashmiri Muslim migrants fled their homes during the creation of Pakistan, arriving here after losing everything. He asserted that neither Awqaf nor the alleged land mafia would succeed in displacing these vulnerable families, who have already suffered so much.
“Jamaat-e-Islami firmly stands with these Kashmiri refugees,” Shah declared. He appealed to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Minister of Kashmir Affairs Amir Maqam, and Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq to intervene and protect these refugees from the threat of eviction. Shah warned that unless alternative housing is provided, the situation could escalate, and they would not allow such injustice to occur.
