LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the use of different balls in the upcoming 2024-25 season in a strategic move to enhance the quality of domestic cricket, as reported a few weeks ago.
To better suit the local pitch conditions, Duke cricket balls will be the official choice for all senior red-ball domestic tournaments. This decision comes after a comprehensive analysis of domestic venues. The PCB aims to create a playing environment that fosters exciting and competitive cricket.
To promote cricket at the grassroots level, Aceline and Grays have been selected as the official balls for pathways and youth cricket, including U15, U17, and U19 tournaments, as well as schools, universities, clubs, and inter-district competitions. Maintaining consistency with international standards, the PCB will continue to use Kookaburra cricket balls for all domestic 50-over and T20 tournaments. This aligns with the global trend of using Kookaburra for white-ball cricket, including ICC events. For the high-profile ICC World Test Championship fixtures against Bangladesh, England, and the West Indies, the PCB has opted for Kookaburra balls.
