The Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi held a ceremony to raise the red and white flag, commemorating the 79th anniversary of Indonesian independence.

The acting consul general of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi, Teguh Wiweko, presided over the event. This year’s anniversary theme was “Building a New Nusantara: Advanced Indonesia.”

Indonesian citizens, students, and the public participated in the ceremony.

Wiweko expressed deep pride in honouring Indonesia's hard-fought independence. He noted that both Pakistan and Indonesia celebrate Independence Day in August and expressed the hope for a future of friendship and progress between the two countries.

The event featured cultural displays highlighting Indonesia's rich traditions and diversity. Visitors enjoyed authentic Indonesian cuisine at various food stalls, offering a range of traditional dishes. The celebration also included games such as sack races, tug of war, and karaoke competitions.
