At least 44 DSPs, including 10 DSPs of the legal branch, recently recruited by the Sindh Public Service Commission called on Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office Karachi on Friday.
The newly recruited DSPs marked their first day at the police department.
Officials said that during the meeting, the IGP shared his experiences with the young DSPs regarding serving at various posts during his service career and facing various challenges in those capacities.
He welcomed all the DSPs to the Sindh police department.
“You are going to be a regular part of a disciplined force and making discipline an essential part of life will increase your reputation,” the police chief said as he advised the DSPs to perform their duties with honesty.
IGP Memon told the newly appointed DSPs that their turnout and discipline would make a good impression of them among the public because discipline, and adherence to rules and regulations were the identity of the police department.
He told the officers to discharge their duties with hard work, honesty and justice. When the criminal justice system was based on justice and honesty, public had a good opinion of the police, he said.
He told the DSPS to make both individual and collective role for strengthening the criminal justice system.
The IGP remarked that the Sindh government had increased the quota of jobs for women in the police force to 15 per cent.
He expressed the hope that that new DSPs would never compromise on their principles and discipline.
