Woman raped by property dealer

LAHORE:A property dealer lured a woman for showing her a property and raped her in the Manawan area.

The victim 'A' said that she wanted to rent a house and got into touch with the suspect Naeem. He contacted her to show a house and she went there with her niece. The next day, he called her again. As the victim had developed trust in him so she went alone. He took her to an under-construction house near Talaspura, Harbanspura. As she entered the premises, he promised her to get it well constructed.

As they were talking, the suspect grabbed her arm, took to a place and raped her. She remained silent due to fear. Later, he dropped her at Main Canal Road and changed his phone number. Police have registered a case.

Bid to take away newborn foiled

Virtual Police Station Friday helped a woman to recover her newborn that was snatched from her by her in-laws in a government hospital on Multan Road. The Virtual Child Safety Centre at Nawaz Sharif Hospital received a call that in-laws of a woman assaulted her and expelled her out of the house and snatched the baby. The police took action and returned the baby to the affected mother and got assurance from her in-laws that they would not harass her in the future.

Two bike thieves arrested

Two members of a bike thieves gang were arrested by Chowki Firdous Market Police on Friday. The arrested suspects were identified as Zain and Haris. Police also recovered three bikes and pistols from their custody. Many cases have been traced to the suspects. They would take away the bikes using master keys and other items.

153 drug peddlers held

Police detained 153 drug peddlers after conducting 298 raids across the province on Friday. According to Punjab Police spokesperson, police teams raided 298 locations and arrested 153 drug peddlers and registered 151 cases and seized 89 kilogram charas, 1 kg ice, 1kg heroin, and 1,400 litre alcohol.
