MARDAN: Leaders of different opposition parties on Friday rejected the decision of the provincial government to sell the land of universities in Mardan district.
The Awami National Party (ANP) Mardan chapter had organized the all-party conference, which was presided over by former chief Ameer Haider Hoti.Mayor Mardan Himayatullah Mayar, ANP district president Imran Mandori, JUIF’s Maulana Amanat Shah Haqqani, PMLN’s Inayat Shah Bacha, JI’s Saeed Akhtar Advocate, JUP’s Fayyaz Khan, PPP’s Aslam Khattak, QWP’s Javed Khan, District Bar Association president Noor Badshah Advocate, Mardan Press Club President Muhammad Bashir Adal, Akbar Ali Kashmiri of Contractors Association, Ehsanullah Bacha of Markazi Tanzeem-e-Tajiran, Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Zahir Shah and others addressed the APC.
The representatives of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf did not participate despite being invited.Ameer Haider Hoti said that five thousand kanals of land was purchased for the Greater Bacha Khan Educational Campus in Mardan during the ANP government.
He added that all the dues were paid to the land owners. However, he argued that later the owners moved court to seek an increase of the land price, which the court did.He argued later the PTI government stopped the payment to the owners. He said that Gomal University had 8,000 kanals of land, while 2,000 kanals have been allocated for Abdul Wali Khan University.
