Law to take its course on Faiz Hameed issue: Omar Ayub
“The inquiry related to Faiz Hameed is an internal matter of the army,” he said
ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly and PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan said on Thursday the law would take its own course on Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed’s court martial.
“The inquiry related to Faiz Hameed is an internal matter of the army,” he said while talking to journalists outside the Adiala jail, Rawalpindi, where he, Syed Shibli Faraz and other PTI leaders had gone to meet the party founder Imran Khan.
He emphasized that the officers who took cash on the issue of private housing society should also be court martialed. About their meeting with the founder chairman, he contended that they meet PTI supremo every Thursday and explained that they had to meet Imran Khan to discuss the current issues, mostly political, and the party’s future course of action.
Criticising the defence minister, Omar Ayub claimed that Khawaja Asif did not know anything and that he was not allowed to go to the GHQ. He said Asif was only a titular defence minister, and no one even asks him for running his ministry’s affairs.
Shibli Faraz, who is the leader of the opposition in the Senate, said they had a scheduled meeting with founder PTI, which was not allowed to happen. “Threats were hurled by the superintendent and deputy superintendent of the jail. We were told that if there was a political conversation, law would take its course.”
To a question, he said the inquiry related to Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed was an internal matter of the army. He regretted that new rules and new people were spoiling the political environment and these people were leading the country towards destruction. “We are the elected representatives of people; if such a situation exists, then we should not be allowed to discuss politics even in the parliament. Instead, we start discussing the weather condition and each other’s clothes, this is very funny,” he contended.
He made it clear that political instability could not end in the country and economy could not be fixed while people were under the burden of inflation. “You are ending hope for them; what has happened to us today shows this. It has been confirmed that whoever is in power does not want people and this country to have a bright future. They are leading the country to destruction,” he said.
