Independence Day celebrations: Ceremonies arranged in KP districts

PESHAWAR: Flag-hoisting ceremonies and other events were held across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the merged districts, to mark the 77th Independence Day of the country.

CHARSADDA: The district administration arranged a function at the main campus of the Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex in connection with the Independence Day celebrations.Deputy Commissioner Qaiser Khan, Lt-Col Abid Aziz, District Police officer Masood Bangash, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shehbaz Khattak and other officials from the district administration attended the event. A cake was also cut on this occasion.

NOWSHERA: A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex to celebrate the Independence Day. Dean of Nowshera Medical College Anwar Wazir, Hospital Director Dr Kamran Hakim, Medical Director Dr Sardar Suhail and others were also present.

Later, a tree plantation drive was also launched on this occasion.Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex Board of Governors Chairman Ashfaq Khan said that we should plant trees to fight the challenges posed by the climate change. He said the global temperature was rising steadily, therefore, trees should be planted to offset its impact.

MARDAN: The day was celebrated with national spirit and devotion in Mardan. Special prayers were offered in mosques for the stability and development of the country. A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House.

Regional Police Officer Najibur Rahman, Additional Commissioner Naeem Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner Behzad Adil and District Police Officer Zahoor Babar Afridi unfurled the flag.Police and Rescue 1122 contingents presented salute.

ADC Relief, Assistant Commissioner Kamran Khan and officers of various government departments participated in the event.Children from different schools presented national songs, tableaus and sketches highlighting the freedom struggle.

Addressing the ceremony, RPO Najibur Rahman said that there was no doubt that the country was facing a lot of challenges at present, but with determination, the Pakistani nation would successfully overcome the difficulties.

Deputy Commissioner Mardan Mian Behzad Adil planted a sapling in the lawns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House. At the end, a walk was held under the leadership of additional commissioner and RPO. A special Independence Day event was also held in a local church. A cake was cut on this occasion.

TAKHT BHAI: A function was held at the office of the Tehsil Municipal Administration. The national flag was hoisted and special prayers were offered for the prosperity of the country. A cake was also cut.

Tehsil Takht Bhai Chairman Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, Assistant Commissioner Junaid Khalid, Additional Assistant Commissioner Sehrish Anwar and others were present.

SWABI: The 77th Independence Day was observed with great fanfare by holding various functions across the district.

A colourful function was held in Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology. Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Rector of GIK Institute, was chief guest. The deans, heads of departments, directors, faculty members and students attended the function.

Later, a tree plantation drive was held on campus to plant saplings on the occasion of the Independence Day.A flag-hoisting ceremony was also held in the district headquarters in which heads of various departments, officials and people participated.

Swabi Deputy Commissioner Nasrullah Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.The deputy commissioner visited the mausoleum of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed and laid floral wreath on his grave. He paid rich tributes to the martyr and recorded his feelings about his sacrifice in the guest book.

HARIPUR: The 77th Independence Day was observed by different government departments and civil society organizations across the district.

The flag-hoisting ceremonies were held in the office of deputy commissioner, offices of Tehsil Municipal Administrations of Haripur, Khanpur and Ghazi, District Bar Association, different educational institutions of the district.

The main function was held in the office of deputy commissioner who hoisted the national flag to mark the day.The officials of district administration, education department, lawyers and members of civil society, students of colleges and schools participated in the ceremonies to mark the Independence Day. Marathon races and different sports and cultural events were part of the celebrations.

MANSEHRA: Rallies and seminars were held in the district.Speaking at a ceremony at Police Lines, Deputy Commissioner Adnan Khan Battani and DPO Shafiullah Khan Gandapur paid rich tribute to people who rendered sacrifices for the motherland.Helping Hand Institute for Rehabilitation Science organised a seminar in connection with the day.

TORGHAR: The district administration in collaboration with Sungi Development Foundation and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund organised a seminar to mark the day.Deputy Commissioner Ziaur Rahman Marwat and DPO Mukhtar Shah addressed the seminar.The officials planted saplings and organised a rally to mark the day.

KOHISTAN: The Independence Day was also observed in Lower Kohistan, Upper Kohistan and Kolai-Palas districts with national zeal and fervour. Rallies were also held in towns and cities.

MINGORA: A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the office of the deputy commissioner Swat to mark the day.

Commissioner of Malakand Division Saqib Raza Aslam was the chief guest at the ceremony. A contingent of the Swat Levies presented salute to the national flag. Special prayers were also offered for the development, progress and prosperity of the nation.

Later, the commission also held a walk. Deputy Commissioner Swat Shehzada Mahboob, District Police Officer Zahidullah, Mayor Shahid Ali Khan and other officials from the district administration participated in the walk.

DIR: The Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and passion across the district. The main ceremony was held at the DC Office.Deputy Commissioner Naveed Akbar, District Police Officer Waqar Ahmad, MPA Muhammad Anwar Khan, and other officials participated in the ceremony. The function began with the hoisting of the national flag followed by a salute and guard of honour.

In his address, Naveed Akbar paid tribute to Founder of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders of the Pakistan Movement, who fought for independence. He emphasized the need for unity and collective efforts to make Pakistan a peaceful, prosperous, and developed country.

CHITRAL: A function was held at the Government Higher Secondary School, Drosh, in Lower Chiral district to observe the Independence Day. A good number of students, teachers, officials and local elders attended the flag-hoisting ceremony. The students also presented national songs and sketches.

Lt Col Waqas Ahmad, Drosh Tehsil Nazim Syed Farid Hussain, Assistant Commissioner Drosh Mohammad Ali, school principal Saleem Kamil and others spoke on the occasion.

HANGU: General Officer Commander Maj-Gen Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti said that the war against terrorists would continue until they surrendered to the rule of law.

Speaking at a function in connection with the Independence Day in Thall, he said that those staging the attacks had nothing to do with Islam and Pakistan. Commandant Thall Scouts Col Alamgir Khan Yousafzai, Wing Commander Jawad, District Police Officer Mohammad Khalid and others attended the event.

KALAYA: A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the office of the deputy commissioner of the Orakzai tribal district to mark the day.

Deputy Commissioner, Orakzai, Tayyab Abddulah, school children and local elders attended the ceremony. A contingent of the police presented salute to the national flag.Later, the deputy commissioner visited the sub-jail and distributed sweets among the prisoners.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Various functions were held in the district to mark the Independence Day.An event was held at the Army Public School where Station Commander Brigadier Aamir Hayat was the chief guest.

Deputy Commissioner Sara Rahman, Cantonment Executive Officer Waqar Ahmad, Amn Jirga chairman Abdul Haleem Khan, Faisal Khan Marwat of Rescue 1122 and others attended the function where the national flag was hoisted.

GHALLANAI: A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the office of the deputy commissioner Mohmand tribal district to mark the day. The police presented salute to the national flag. Deputy Commissioner Ahtesham-ul-Haq, MPA Dr Mohammad Israr Safi and local elders spoke on the occasion. They highlighted the sacrifices of the forefathers of the nation, which they rendered during the struggle for independence.

KHAR: The flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Police Lines in Khar town in Bajaur tribal district to mark the Independence Day.

Deputy Commissioner Anwar-ul-Haq, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ali Raza, District Police Officer Waqas Rafique and other officials attended the function. A contingent of the Levies force presented salute to the national flag.Later, the deputy commissioner also led a walk at the Civil Colony in Khar in connection with the Independence Day.

JAMRUD: A flag-hoisting ceremony was held in Khyber district on the occasion of Independence Day in the Police Lines in Shakas.The police force presented a salute to the memorial of the martyrs. A cake was cut to mark the occasion.

District Police Officer Mazhar Iqbal and the cops saluted the flag and offered special prayers for the development and security of the country. He said the tribal people actively participated in Independence Day celebrations every year. He said we should pledge to serve the country on Independence Day.

MIRANSHAH: A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Governor Model School here to mark the Independence Day.

General Office Commanding Maj-Gen Adil Iftikhar Warraich, District Police Officer Rukhanzeb, Additional Deputy Commissioner Samiullah, tribal elders, teachers and students attended the

event. The schoolchildren played national songs and skits. Similar functions and ceremonies were also held in other districts in KP.
