PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) president Fuad Ishaq on Thursday rejected imposition of fixed tax on traders and asked the government to immediately take back the decision.
Speaking during a protest camp of traders at Saddar, the SCCI chief threatened to launch a protest drive along with the trader community against unjust taxes.SCCI’ senior vice-president Sanaullah Khan, vice-president Ejaz Khan Afridi, former vice- president Javed Akthar, Tajir Itehad President Mujeebur Rehman and others were also present on the occasion.
“The traders are on protest owing to wrong policies of the government,” he said, adding that the SCCI had presented budget proposals, which were yet to be implemented. The SCCI chief called Pakistan’s tax system as outdated, asking for enforcement of the tax system in the pattern of UAE by altering the prevailing Australian Tax system.
