LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz hoisted the national flag at the Alamgiri Gate of Lahore Fort on the Independence Day.
She attended a special ceremony held at the Hazoori Bagh where the national anthem was played. She visited the Mazar-e-Iqbal, laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha and prayed for the integrity and prosperity of Pakistan. She was presented a salute by a smart contingent of scouts standing on the stairs of Badshahi Mosque.
Addressing the gathering, Maryam said: “If there is political stability in the country, it can become an ideal country. May Allah help Pakistan forever. Pakistan is a great blessing for us from Allah.” She congratulated the nation on the Independence Day and paid tribute to Arshad Nadeem. She said there was immense talent in the Pakistani nation. “As much as this country is ours, it also belongs to minorities, everyone has equal rights in Pakistan. The name of the country should continue to shine in various fields.”
She said: “Ask the people who are oppressed about the value of freedom. I pay homage to young men who sacrificed their lives for the country.”
Maryam also paid a surprise visit to the CBD Walton project and visited the Walton Road 47 project going from Kalma Chowk towards Walton. She reviewed progress on the project and inspected construction activities. She also reviewed the construction of Walton Road drain. She directed completion of the project at the earliest.
