Vice chancellors have been appointed to five universities of Sindh, while the appointments of vice-chancellors to two universities -- Larkana University and Sufi University Bhit Shah – have been stopped.
According to a notification, former Iqra University vice chancellor Dr Waseem Qazi has been appointed as the first permanent vice chancellor to the Karachi Metropolitan University (KMDC).
Last week, in a meeting chaired by Chairman Search Committee Dr Tariq Rafi, the names of Dr Waseem Qazi, Dr Athar Mehboob and Dr Khalid Ashrafi were selected for the Metropolitan University. Sindh’s chief minister chose Dr Waseem Qazi for the post on merit.
According to the notification, Dr Madad Ali Shah has been appointed as vice chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Nawabshah. In Shah Latif University Khairpur, Dr Yusuf Khushik has been made VC, in Sheikh Ayaz University Shikarpur Dr Ayesha Esani, and in Mirpurkhas University Dr Rafiq Ahmed Memon has been appointed as vice chancellor.
Secretary Boards and Universities Abbas Baloch has issued the formal notification for the appointments of these five people.
