‘Necrophiliac’ remanded in police custody
A judicial magistrate on Monday remanded a suspect in police custody in a case pertaining to desecrating the grave of a woman and sexually abusing the corpse.
The investigating officer produced the detained suspect before a judicial magistrate (East) and requested his physical remand in police custody for interrogation. The IO stated that there was previous criminal record of the suspect, whose custody is required for further investigation.
The magistrate handed over the suspect to the police on physical remand until Thursday with a direction to produce him on the completion of the remand. An FIR was lodged at the Awami Colony police station under sections 297 (trespassing on burial places, etc), 376 (punishment for rape) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the deceased woman’s son. The complainant stated that he had buried his mother in the Bagh-e-Korangi graveyard on Thursday evening. Later that night, he came to know that the man desecrated the grave.
