ABBOTTABAD: The district administration has assured the local community of a strict action against the crush plant owners and the mine leaseholders who have illegally engaged in the crush machines business and are using explosive detonation in the Ghumawan in the suburbs of Abbottabad.

The decision was taken after a meeting of residents of Ghumawan village and other areas along Thandiani Road with deputy commissioner here on Monday. The residents submitted an application, demanding immediate action against illegal crush machines and explosive detonation in the vicinity.

The residents, led by Barrister Hashim Iqbal Khan, alleged that these activities were being conducted in a blatant violation of multiple laws, court orders, and environmental regulations, severely impacting their community.

The application cited several court orders and notices issued to the operators of the crush plants, but lamented that no action had been taken to stop the illegal activities. The residents requested the deputy commissioner to seal the illegal crush plants and halt the transportation and sale of crush the material by directing the Environmental Protection Agency to enforce penalties.

They called for investigation and arresting individuals involved in these illegal activitiesThe residents attached documents with the application to support their stand and urged the deputy commissioner to take immediate and decisive action to maintain law and order and ensure the safety and security of their community.
