RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik embraced Shahadat at Combined Military Hospital, Peshawar.
On Friday, fire exchange took place between security forces and Khawarij at three different locations in Tirah Valley of Khyber District.
At one of the locations in Bagh, Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik (age: 24 years, resident of District Attock, leading his troops from the front, fought bravely and sent four Khawarij to hell.
However, during intense fire exchange, the officer got critically injured and was under treatment at CMH Peshawar. Today he succumbed to injuries and embraced Shahadat.
Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave officers and soldiers further strengthen our resolve, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said.
Namaz-e-Janazah of young Shaheed officer was offered at Peshawar Garrison. It was attended by Corps Commander Peshawar, relatives of Shaheed and other senior civil and military officers and Jawans.
Shaheed will be laid to rest with full military honours at his native town in Attock.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday expressed grief over the martyrdom of Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik who had sustained injuries in an attack on forces in Tirah valley.
In a statement, he condoled with the bereaved heirs over the martyrdom of Lt Uzair Mehmood Malik. He paid tribute to the martyred army officer for sacrificing his life while defending the country.
The president expressed determination to continue operations against the terrorists. He prayed for the elevation of ranks of the martyred and patience for the bereaved family members.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik on his martyrdom after sustaining injuries in an operation against Khawariji terrorists in Tirah valley few days back.
In a statement on Sunday, the prime minister prayed for the elevation of ranks of the martyr and patience for the bereaved family.
Lt Uzair Mehmood Malik while leading the army jawans, eliminated four Khawariji terrorists, he said, adding that the officers and jawans of Pakistan army were removing the Al-Khawarij fitna from the Pakistani soil. He said, “He and the whole nation pay tribute to the brave officers and Jawans of Pakistan Army.” He said Pakistani nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the army in the war against terrorists. “Our martyrs and their families are pride of the whole nation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday paid homage to Lieutenant Uzair Mahmood Malik, who was martyred in fire exchange with terrorists in Tirah Valley, the other day.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the martyred Lieutenant. Mohsin Naqvi said that Lieutenant Uzair Mahmood Malik bravely confronted the militants and sent four of them to hell.
He further said that Lieutenant Uzair Mahmood Malik sacrificed his life in foiling the nefarious designs of the terrorists. The interior minister saluted the great sacrifice of Lieutenant Uzair Mahmood Malik.
He stated that Lieutenant Uzair Mahmood Malik achieved the highest rank of martyrdom and we are proud of such brave sons of the soil.
The minister said that the brave officers and soldiers of the security forces had made unforgettable sacrifices in the war against terrorism and they had created history. He expressed that the sacrifices of the martyrs would always be remembered.
