Police on Saturday announced that they had killed a suspect allegedly involved in the robbery that resulted in the deaths of two people and the theft of Rs13.5 million in the Metroville area.
During a press conference, Zone South DIG Asad Raza, accompanied by District Keamari SSP Captain (retd) Faizan Ali, detailed the events leading to the suspect’s death.
The police conducted a raid based on a tip-off regarding the suspect’s presence at a residence in Ittehad Town.
When officers approached, two suspects opened fire and attempted to flee. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the police shot and killed one suspect, identified as Abdur Rauf, while his accomplice escaped.
Authorities claimed to have recovered a weapon, a motorcycle, and Rs2 million in cash from the possession of the deceased suspect.
The robbery occurred on April 8, when Rauf and his companion attacked a poultry farm cashier and an employee as they were en route to deposit Rs13.5 million at a bank.
After committing the robbery, the suspects had reportedly fled to Afghanistan but recently returned to Karachi.
Investigators believe the suspects are linked to several other criminal cases, and further investigations are ongoing.
