Two people were killed and as many others were wounded in a firing incident in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar neighbourhood on Saturday. According to details, the incident took place at a house near Munawar Chowrangi.

Following the incident, police and rescue workers reached the crime scene to take the casualties to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the deceased were identified as Abdus Salam, 24, and Nasir Ashraf, 28. The injured were identified as brothers Asim and Asif.

Police said Salam, Asim and Asif were on the first floor of the house when Ashraf arrived with another person. Officials said the unidentified person started a conversation with Salam, leading to an argument over a woman.

During the heated exchange, the unidentified suspect opened fire, resulting in the immediate deaths of Salam and Ashraf, while Asim and Asif were wounded in the shooting.

Police found 13 empty shells of a 9mm pistol at the crime scene. Officials said the unidentified suspect had opened fire during an inquiry about a woman.

Police said the deceased and the injured are relatives, hailing from Hazara Division. Ashraf had rented the upper floor of the house from a person named Sarim Qureshi, and the place was also being used as a guest house.

The initial investigation suggests that the incident was a result of personal enmity. Police said the suspect entered the house, opened fire, then fled the crime scene.

Officials said evidence is being collected from the crime scene and the surrounding areas, adding that police are carrying out the necessary legal procedures. They said that a case has been registered, and further investigation is under way.
