Nine injured in roof collapse

LAHORE : Nine persons including four children were injured when the roof of a house collapsed due to rain in Sheikhupurian Bazar Texali Gate on Saturday.

According to reports, a room roof caved in suddenly, burying all those sitting in the room under the debris. On getting information, Rescue 1122 vehicles reached the spot and started rescue operation. The rescuers pulled the injured persons from the debris and shifted them to an area hospital. The quick response of Rescue 1122 was instrumental in managing the situation and providing urgent medical assistance.

The injured were identified as Arshad, 35, Nusrat, 35, Sayeda Begum, 55, Hijab, 13, Tazim, 7, Ali Zar, 3, Momina, 63, Noor, 7, and Maryam, 37.

Three DSPs suspended over misconduct

Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has taken strict action under discipline by issuing orders to suspend three DSPs.

The IG Punjab suspended three DSPs for misconduct, inefficiency and poor performances, official notifications had also been issued in this regard. DSP Headquarters Sahiwal and former SDPO Dehli Gate Multan M Shehbaz Gul, SDPO Sadar Jhang M Aslam, and SDPO Baragarh Nankana Sahib Saleem Haider Shah had been suspended. DSP Saleem Haider Shah was suspended for benefiting suspects in various cases and issuing a false FIR. DSP M Aslam was suspended for wrongfully naming two innocent people in an FIR besides issuing an illegal detention order while DSP Shehbaz Gul was suspended for helping the land mafia. The IG Punjab said that the police were a disciplined force with a strict system of accountability and further legal action would be taken against the suspended DSPs according to the rules and regulations.

8 arrested over price violation

The price control magistrates conducted inspections at 1,885 locations, leading to the arrest of eight individuals for overpricing fruits, vegetables, and other essential items.

Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rafia Haider told the media on Saturday that 16 cases had been registered for violations of the government set prices.

Furthermore, fines totaling Rs400,000 were imposed for 77 instances of non-compliance. Meanwhile, to inspect field operations to ensure complete drainage of rainwater in Lahore, Assistant Commissioner City Rai Babar evaluated the Wasa camp at Qurtaba Chowk with Wasa officials and assessed water drainage at Bhatti Chowk, where 55mm rain was recorded.

Wasa’s equipment is operational, with de-watering machinery in place.
