ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Friday extended full support to the judiciary, and also announced that it was suspending symbolic hunger strike camp staged at the Parliament House.

Talking to reporters, Tehreek Tahaffuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan head Mehmood Khan Achakzai said that the fruits of real freedom was not provided to the masses, urging all the individuals to come forward and guide them so that Pakistan can be run in a better way.

After presiding over the movement’s meeting here, Achakzai maintained that this is the first alliance that is not opposed to anyone. He said that the fruits of true freedom were not handed over to the people, now is the time to repent/ have retrospection so that Pakistan can develop.

“Pakistan will be free only when all come forward for a common struggle,” he maintained.

The meeting was attended by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Umar Ayub Khan, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Shibli Faraz and senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser along with leaders of the allied parties.

A detailed review of the overall political situation in the country was made and the future course of action for the movement was discussed.

Achakzai said that on August 14, intellectuals will gather in every province in the name of real freedom, and would explain what real freedom is.

He claimed that there is no doubt that the PTI is the most popular party in the country, and the successful rally in Swabi has proven this.

Speaking on the occasion, Umar Ayub said that it was decided in the meeting that on August 13, students and youth would come out carrying the Pakistani flag, and they would celebrate August 14 as the Day of Haqeeqi Azadi.

He added seminars on the Constitution and democracy will be held on August 14. He also mentioned that Bilawal Bhutto is in a state of confusion, enjoying the benefits of being in government, and now when he sees the government’s failure, he is panicking.

Omar Ayub pointed out that the allied government of Bilawal increased the electricity price by Rs2 and 64 paisa per unit. The opposition leader announced that the symbolic hunger strike camp, which has been ongoing outside the Parliament House for 13 days, would be suspended.

He said that the Supreme Court’s decisions are in accordance with the Constitution and the law. The Supreme Court should take steps to enforce its decisions.

A legislation, he noted, has been done to annul the Supreme Court’s verdicts, adding that 41 members of the National Assembly would challenge this amendment to Elections Act 2017. He added Mehmood Khan Achakzai’s party and other parties will also challenge the legislation.

PTI leader Asad Qaiser said that on August 14, Achakzai would hold a seminar in Quetta, and the rest of the leadership will hold seminars in other cities.

He wondered that when a full court gives a decision, how can those decisions be altered? “We stand with the judiciary and will invite those with serious thoughts to participate in the Haqeeqi Azadi events,” he said.
