ISF to launch movement for release of Imran, restoration of ‘true democracy’
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-affiliated Insaf Students Federation (ISF) on Friday announced launching a movement for the release of party’s founder Imran Khan and restoration of a true democracy in the country.
Speaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, ISF Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Ashfaq Marwat and other student leaders expressed concern over the prevailing state of affairs in the country.
“The constitution has effectively been suspended and there is rampant inflation and unemployment. The law and order situation remains a fundamental problem, with protests erupting across the country by oppressed people,” he said.
The ISF president claimed that a never-ending cycle of enforced disappearances and abductions had started.“The country’s most popular leader has been unjustly imprisoned for a year and countless students and political workers have been languishing in jails without any solid reason,” he went on to add.
The student leaders said that they had no other option but to launch the ‘Pakistan Students Movement’ and an action committee would be established soon.“This committee will work under the framework of the constitution and law to achieve the goals,” Ashfaq Marwat said.
He demanded immediate release of Imran Khan and all political prisoners and hand
over the helm of affairs to the real winners of the February 8 election. The student leaders also extended support to those advocating peace, vowing to make any sacrifice necessary for peace while opposing military operations as a solution to any problem.
