The Sindh High Court dismissed a contempt of court application against revenue officials with regard to the allotment of 10 acres of land to a private citizen and held that the reclaimed land of the Malir river belongs to the Sindh government instead of the Karachi Development Authority.
Petitioner Shah Nawaz Munawar submitted that the KDA had allocated 10 acres of land near the Malir river as alternate land, but it was occupied by the Sindh government. The additional advocate general submitted that the KDA had wrongly allotted the land in question to the petitioner as it could not be allocated to the petitioner without permission of the Sindh government. He submitted that KDA officials were being proceeded against under the law for their wrongful actions.
A high court division bench, headed by Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, after the statement of the provincial law officer and hearing the arguments of the counsel, dismissed the contempt of court application against the revenue officials.
