Another van carrying Rs8.8m cash looted in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Around 20 armed robbers looted a van of a private security company carrying Rs8.8 million bank cash near Sidra Morr on Indus Highway in the limits of Yarak police station on Thursday.

Officials said that a van of the private security company was carrying Rs8.8 million cash for a bank in Paniala on the Indus Highway.They said that when the van reached Sidra Morr, about 20 armed robbers riding bikes intercepted the van and disembarked the guards of the security company at gunpoint.

The robbers, they added, then forced the driver to drive the van to the nearby fields where they looted the cash.The robbers released the driver but set the vehicle on fire in the fields before fleeing.

It may be mentioned that this is the third such incident in Dera Ismail Khan in a short period.The robbers loot the vans carrying cash for the banks in the city and the adjacent areas but the law enforcement agencies, district administration and police have become silent spectators.
