Rs1.5m released for cops’ medical expenses
LAHORE:Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has released an additional amount of Rs1.5 million to pay medical expenses to the officials posted in various districts, including Lahore.
According to the details, IG Punjab has given Rs0.5 million to Ghazi Head Constable Sultan Ahmad belonging to Muzaffargarh police; Rs250,000 to the injured Constable Muhammad Saleem of Rawalpindi for treatment, Rs150,000 were released for injured Constable M Riaz of Muzaffargarh while injured Constable Muhammad Imran of Pakpattan was given Rs250,000 and Rs250,000 were released for the treatment of the injured Constable Ismatullah of Sargodha, Rs100,000 given to Ghazi Head Constable Abdul Jabbar of Lahore Police for medical expenses.
They were injured during various incidents in the line of duty. The Compensation Award Committee chaired by Additional IG Welfare Riaz Nazir approved the release of funds after scrutiny.
Meanwhile, IGP met with the police employees and their families at the Central Police Office here Thursday. He listened to the problems presented by the police employees and issued orders for immediate relief. The IGP directed Additional IG Training to provide relief on contract renewal request of former PTC Lahore’s psychologist Aqsa Safdar.
He ordered the AIG Admin to address the recruitment requests of the sons of Head Constables Jamshed Ali and Muhammad Tufail on family claims basis. He directed the DIG Welfare to provide relief on the application of educational scholarship of the children of Head Constable Zafar Iqbal Shaheed.
The IG Punjab issued instructions to AIG Admin on Constable Hafeez Shaheed’s son transfer request to central police office from Special protection unit. On the request of the family of Constable Noor Muhammad Shaheed, IGP instructed DPO Khanewal to resolve the issues under personal supervision. On the recruitment request of son of Inspector Fida Hussain Shaheed on family claims basis, IGP issued orders to the AIG admin for relief. He directed effective coordination and follow-up to provide relief through immediate action on all requests. He also issued orders for relief on requests regarding discipline, welfare, other professional matters. He said that the supervisory officers should provide relief to the employees' families by solving the problems under personal supervision.
IGP lauds sacrifice of martyred constable
Inspector General Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar Thursday lauded the sacrifice of Elite Constable Muhammad Haji, who embraced martyrdom during an attack of dacoits on police picket in Rajanpur.
The IGP said the cop embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, the police department will never forget his sacrifice. The funeral prayer of the cop was offered in Police Lines Rajanpur.
The body of the cop was wrapped in the national flag and was saluted by the police squad and officers. After the funeral, the body of the martyr was sent to his native village where he was laid to rest with full state honours.
