The right ruling
This letter refers to the news report ‘SC judges blasts majority ruling over ‘self-created relief for PTI" (August 4, 2024). This is a unique case in the political history of Pakistan. The most popular party was not given a level playing field and all kinds of hurdles were erected in its path. The majority decision by the apex court rectified the injustice done to the PTI, in my opinion. It is incorrect to suggest that it was ‘self-created relief for the PTI’.
Once the SC makes a decision, no legislation can undermine it. However, it may be mentioned that signs of division within the SC are not good for the country. It is time for all stakeholders to sit and develop a consensus on national issues. Delay is resulting in unnecessary destabilization and economic meltdown
