Stakeholders review progress on Gem Processing and Export Centre

PESHAWAR: A meeting was held in the Industries Department to review the progress on the establishment of the Namak Mandi Gems Processing & Export Centre.

Special Assistant to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education, Abdul Karim Tordher, chaired the meeting. Other participants included Special Secretary Industries Mohammad Anwar Khan, Additional Secretaries Industries Shama Niamat, Senior Planning Officer Basit Khalil, Deputy Post Master General (DPMG) Zarghaam Abbas, representatives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZDMC), Board of Investment & Trade (KP-BoIT), and Sartaj Ahmad Khan from the All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA).

The meeting provided updates on efforts and progress made in implementing the project. It was noted that stakeholders have agreed to establish the centre in a building of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project at Chamkani, with a formal application already submitted to the relevant department.

The consultant has been tasked with providing world-class facilities in the building. Participants were informed about the progress made by the relevant departments in achieving their targets for the speedy completion of the project.

Addressing the participants, the special assistant directed the Industries Department and its subsidiary organisations to accelerate their work and complete all required phases in the shortest possible time.
