Islamabad:Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, has approved the establishment of a world-class safari park in Islamabad. The project aims to provide a new recreational facility for the citizens of the capital. The announcement was made during a meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters, where various proposals for the park were reviewed.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), briefed the interior minister on the project details. After the briefing, Minister Mohsin Naqvi granted in-principle approval for the safari park. The proposed safari park will cover an expansive 200 acres and will eventually house around 5,000 animals and birds. Initially, the park will open with 2,000 animals and birds in its first phase.
Minister Naqvi instructed officials to register the safari park with the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums to ensure it meets international standards. He emphasised the need to promptly finalise all project-related matters and directed that the foundation stone for the park should be laid in October. The minister also noted that the safari park is expected to boost tourism in Islamabad.
