LDA speeds up work

LAHORE:Lahore Development Authority (LDA) accelerated work on Controlled Access Corridor Block Road and Ravi Bridge Extension Project even in the monsoon season to achieve the target given by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq on Wednesday visited the ongoing development projects where Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed, Project Director and Contractor briefed about the progress of the projects.

Asrar Saeed told the LDA DG that due to monsoon rains, there were difficulties in completing the projects but the work is in the final stage of completion. He said the work on both sides of Saggian to Babu Sabu service road was nearing completion while the second layer of asphalt and water bound work was in progress on 1.7 km section four.

He said that the construction of Toll Plaza on Babu Sabu side was also in the final stage. On Babu Sabu side encroachments are being removed and a green belt is being created. Later, LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited the Ravi Bridge expansion project. Chief Engineer LDA Asrar Saeed and Project Director gave a briefing.

Dozens of illegal properties sealed

LDA teams, on the directions of LDA DG, continued their operation against illegal constructions, illegal commercial use and commercial fee defaulters on Wednesday.

LDA teams sealed 25 properties due to non-payment of commercial fees in Blocks A, B, C, G, E, F, M, and the Civic Centre of Gulshan Ravi. In another operation, Town Planning Zone II has sealed 22 properties in various blocks of Mustafa Town and Allama Iqbal Town. The sealed properties included private schools, marriage halls, offices, pharmacies, academies, shops, offices, clinics, and others. These sealed properties were defaulters of millions of rupees in the shape of commercialisation fees.
