Rawalpindi:The Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) presented a detailed report of the anti-encroachment campaign to Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak on Tuesday.

The anti-encroachment campaign meeting was chaired by the Commissioner of Rawalpindi. In the meeting, the MCR presented a detailed briefing on the progress of the operation on its fourth day. The participants were told that encroachment mafia has been occupying both sides of Murree Road, particularly from Waris Khan to Sixth Road, and showed strong resistance against MCR officers. The MCR registered an FIR against this encroachment group at the New Town Police Station.

The operation was conducted on both sides of Murree Road. Meanwhile, 20 truckloads of goods were seized and cannot be reclaimed. The MCR chief warned of dire consequences to the encroachers.

MCR Chief Officer Imran Ali stated that they are committed to eliminating illegal encroachments and have initiated an anti-encroachment campaign throughout the city, particularly focusing on Murree Road, Double Road, Sadiqabad, Muslim Town, and the Commercial Market areas. Ali warned that the encroachment mafia will not be spared at any cost. He mentioned that shops and stalls that had been established on Murree Road for a long time were confiscated, and that Murree Road and Double Road have been cleared of encroachments.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak warned that strict action will be taken against the concerned area inspector if a complaint of encroachment arises against him after the illegal encroachments have been removed. The operation is being intensified and shifted to other areas of Rawalpindi.

Commissioner Aamir Khattak highlighted that the lack of continuity has been the main reason for the failure of the anti-encroachment operation so far. He mentioned that they will make surprise visits to the markets where encroachments are being reported to assess the situation themselves. The Commissioner has directed to prioritize clearing encroachments on the sides of the Nullah Leh, as well as on the main roads and markets.
