Two people lost their lives and five others were injured when a house collapsed in Lyari on Monday. Additionally, two more individuals, including a woman, were wounded in a separate roof collapse in the same area.
The first incident occurred near Mewa Shah Road within the jurisdiction of the Chakiwara police station. The roof of a residential house collapsed, resulting in the deaths of two labourers and injuries to five others, who were trapped under the debris. Police and rescue teams arrived at the scene and, with the help of local residents, managed to rescue the trapped individuals. The injured persons were then transported to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). The deceased were identified as 30-year-old Hussain Ali, son of Lal Muhammad, and 28-year-old Mansoor, son of Ali Bilal. The injured have been named as 20-year-old Kamran, son of Habl, 37-year-old Shakoor, son of Akhtar, 35-year-old Musa, son of Abdullah, 30-year-old Aftab, son of Nabi, and 30-year-old Abdul Rehman, son of Chan Gul.
The victims were originally from rural Sindh, and their bodies were later handed over to their families. In a separate incident on Abdullah Haroon Road in Lyari, another roof collapse occurred. Rescue teams, aided by residents, extracted a man and a woman from the rubble and transported them to the CHK. The injured were identified as 27-year-old Ali Akbar, son of Ahmed, and 50-year-old Nazira Bibi, wife of Rehmat. Both were reported to be in stable condition.
