CHARSADDA: The former district education officer (female) was charge-sheeted and an inquiry was initiated against her on the chief secretary’s directives for alleged irregularities in the appointment of 74 teachers in the district during the tenure of caretaker government in the province.

The two-member probe committee comprising special secretary Climate Change and principal RPDC would present its written report to the authorities concerned within two months.

Earlier, a two-member probe committee had submitted its report to the high-ups of the Education Department to take action against three officials for their alleged involvement in irregularities in the appointment of 74 teachers in the district during the tenure of the caretaker government in the province.

After completion of the investigation into the appointment of teachers, the committee submitted its findings to the Directorate of Elementary and Secondary Education Department, KP.The committee had pinpointed alleged violation of rules and regulations by District Education Officer Suraya Khattak, Account Officer Mazhar Khan and Clerk Sajjad and recommended their removal from their posts to pave the way for further investigation into the irregularities.

The committee had also recommended the inclusion of relevant sub-divisional education officers in the probe and securing the record of illegal appointment of teachers. The fact-finding committee had later submitted its report and now another committee was constituted to fulfill all legal obligations in the light of recommendations filed by the previous body for action. It may be mentioned that Directress Samina Altaf had constituted a two-member committee soon after a scandal surfaced about the illegal appointment of teachers in schools of the Charsadda district during the tenure of the caretaker government.
