Investigations obstacle

A country's progress is often measured by the effectiveness of its judiciary. In Pakistan, the criminal justice system faces a significant challenge: an alarmingly high acquittal rate. This trend has led to a widespread perception that courts favour the accused, allowing offenders to go unpunished. However, the reality lies not with the courts, but with the investigation process. Courts rely on evidence - documentary, oral, medical, and more - to reach verdicts. If there's even a minute doubt, the benefit goes to the accused. The primary reason for acquittals is subpar investigation. Many investigators hold only bachelor's degrees and are unfamiliar with crucial laws.

Poor investigation leads to weak cases, resulting in acquittals. Courts are unfairly blamed, but the truth lies in the investigation's shortcomings. To combat this problem, investigators must be trained and equipped to conduct thorough probes. The minimum qualification for investigation officers should be an LLB degree. They also require access to necessary facilities and expert training in investigation techniques. By enhancing the investigation process, we can ensure that justice is served.
