ISLAMABAD: The statement recorded by the investigating officer in the court has come to light in the 190 million pounds scandal against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
Investigation officer and NAB Deputy Director Mian Umar Nadeem recorded his statement in the accountability court on July 30. He said that the inquiry was authorized on December 7, 2022 and the investigation started on April 28, 2023. According to the records, the cabinet approved the Assets Recovery Unit for the recovery of assets abroad. The investigating officer said that secret letters were written to Usman Ahmed, Country Manager of National Crime Agency, on the instructions of Shahzad Akbar, and the National Crime Agency obtained orders to freeze the proceeds of criminal activities.
The investigation officer said that 458 kanal, 4 marla and 58 square feet land was purchased from a private housing society from April 4 to 30 in 2019 and the purchased land was transferred to Al Qadir Trust University through accused Zulfi Bukhari. After the transfer of land, Zulfi Bukhari, Shahzad Akbar and the property tycoon met the PTI founder.
According to him, on July 11, 2019, a malicious note was written to the PTI founder that the money belonged to Pakistan. The malicious note was presented for approval in the cabinet meeting on Dec 3, 2019. He said the trust deed was signed by Zia-ul-Mustafa Naseem as a witness. The opinion of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Law was not taken. Bushra Bibi also signed the donation acknowledgment on March, 24, 2021.
According to the investigating officer, 240 kanals of land was transferred under the guise of Al-Qadir Trust to Farah Shahzadi. The PTI founder and Bushra Bibi failed to provide evidence related to the sale of land.
The investigation officer further stated that the accused completely failed to provide proof of transfer of the funds to the state of Pakistan and 240 kanals of land in Mohra Noor Islamabad was fraudulently transferred in the name of the accused. Farah Gogi acted as the front person for Imran and his wife, he added.
