PARACHINAR: Normalcy has started returning to Kurram tribal district, where a bloody clash between two rival tribes over a land dispute left around 49 dead.

The district administration along with the local elders had launched efforts to end the fighting by brokering a ceasefire. The personnel of the security forces, police and FC had been deployed at the positions which were vacated by the armed tribesmen.

After the ceasefire, the Peshawar-Parachinar and other roads, which had been closed to traffic, have been reopened for traveling. The educational institutions and the bazaars have also reopened. The tensions flared up after Boshera and Malikhel tribesmen traded fire over the ownership of a piece of land.

The clashes left 49 people dead and over 190 injured. The clashes initially started at Boshera area near Parachinar, which later spread to other places including Peewar, Tangi, Balishkhel, Khaar Killay, Maqbal, Kunj Alizai and Para Chamkani area. in Kurram district. When the fighting escalated, tribal elders from Hangu and Kohat started efforts to broker a ceasefire and restore peace. Normalcy has now returned to the district and the people have started routine activities.

The fighting had led to the closure of bazaars, which had created the shortage of food items and medicines. The transportation of goods had come to a standstill due to the clashes in the district.
