Islamabad:Iqra University unveiled an innovative fashion thesis by their final year students, who have rapidly emerged as stars in the fashion industry.

The groundbreaking project represented the culmination of the students’ rigorous research and creative vision throughout their academic journey at Iqra University here. The thesis explored and showcased the in-depth creativity of each individual final-year student, pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion design while addressing their inner hidden personalities and expanding their creativity.

This thesis not only challenged conventional norms but also offered fresh perspectives on how their lives evolved during their four-year journey as Fashion Design students at the university. The event was graced by the presence of eminent diplomats and ambassadors.

Irena Gancheva, ambassador of Bulgaria to Pakistan, and Mehmet Toyran, Educational Counsellor, Embassy of Türkiye inspected the work of the students, and praised them for their creativity and innovation. The collection featured the work of 53 students who worked on individual themes.

Each piece in the collection embodied their dedication, creativity, and individuality as Fashion Designers, reflecting their commitment to fashion while incorporating four years of Fashion and Textile Practice into each garment, which were handcrafted by the individual student.

Key highlights of the ‘Final Year Thesis Spring 2024’ included innovative design concepts where students conducted intensive research on their chosen individual topics, handpicking and crafting their creative and personal feelings into the collection. The collection also exhibited significant cultural influences, with various cultures and traditions seamlessly integrated with Pakistani culture and values, resulting in a focus on experimental garments.

Jury members from the fashion and creative industries were invited to examine the students' work, including Vaneeza Ahmed (model/actress), Shazia Kiyani (fashion designer), Azam Jamal (visual artist/associate professor NCA/former principal PIFD), and Aqeel Ahmed Solangi (associate professor/head of Painting, Sculpture NCA RWP).
