KP CM promises pro-people budget
NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Friday said the upcoming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget for the fiscal 16-17 would be pro-people.
Addressing a public meeting in Jehangira area here, he said that providing relief to poor and underprivileged was the priority of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
He said the government would issue health insurance cards to another 10 million poor people to provide them free medical assistance. The government had provided free seeds to the farmers during the current fiscal year, he said. He added the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was planning to provide free fertiliser or at least on subsidised rates to the farmers to promote agriculture in the province next year.
The chief minister added the government was committed to solving the health, education and other problems being faced by the people. “To spend public money on people and to pass on the benefits of the development work to the grassroots level is the vision of the PTI Chairman Imran Khan,” he maintained.
Perez Khattak said that’s why the PTI government was ensuring equal distribution of development funds and started development of every nook and corner of the province.Pervez Khattak alleged that the successive governments had embezzled the funds meant for development and projects of public interest.
He said the previous Awami National Party and Pakistan People’s Party coalition government in KP was the most corrupt one. “Jobs were on sale, transfers through bribes were a common practice and there was political interference in the government departments,” he added.
The chief minister said the PTI-led government had streamlined the faulty system, introduced merit, eliminated corruption and restored public self-respect in the government departments. “The people can feel the change. That is why workers of other political parties are joining the PTI in droves,” he added.
Pervez Khattak said that the corrupt rulers always escaped accountability. He added that the Panama Leaks was an example of corruption of the ruling elite. The CM said that the people would not allow the rulers to escape the accountability this time.
