LAHORE: On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Pakistan’s biggest shrimp farming project will be launched this year.
More than one thousand tonnes of shrimp farming will be undertaken on one thousand acres for the first time in Punjab. The Punjab government will provide subsidies, land and other necessary facilities for undertaking the shrimp farming project. On the direction of the CM, a principle decision has been made to formally launch a research project for the fisheries and shrimp farming. The Fisheries Farms Associations has paid tributes to Maryam on launching the project.
On the direction of the CM, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Thursday met a delegation of the Fisheries Farms Associations. She assured them of extensive cooperation for launching the shrimp farming project. It was agreed in the meeting to promote mutual collaboration with all stakeholders to launch the project. Marriyum said on the direction of Maryam, the private sector would be provided all possible assistance for launching the project. She underscored that the promotion of fisheries and shrimp farming would become possible with due collaboration of all stakeholders. She said the project would prove to be a game-changer for the farmers of Punjab.
The delegation acknowledged that the project would prove to be fruitful. They appreciated that the vision of Maryam for launching the project was praiseworthy. The delegation comprised Mohsin Raza Khadal, Malik Azhar Mushtaq, Chaudhry Salahuddin, Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq and Dr Shahzad Naveed.
