CHARSADDA: A mega tree-plantation campaign was inaugurated at Bacha Khan University here on Thursday The drive aims at planting 10,000 trees across 50 acres of land, enhancing the university’s green cover and contributing to a cleaner environment.
Provincial Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan and Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud inaugurated the drive by planting saplings on the occasion. The MPA praised the efforts and urged collective action against climate change. “We must work together to protect our planet for future generations,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner stressed the need for afforestation to mitigate climate change impacts.He highlighted the alarming consequences of rising temperatures and climate change, including recurrent floods and natural disasters, resulting in significant annual losses. “Climate change affects not only our environment but also our economy and food security,” he said. “This tree plantation drive is a crucial step towards a sustainable future,” he added.
Vice-Chancellor Bacha Khan University Zahid Khan, Deputy Commissioner Qaiser Khan, District Police Officer Charsadda Masood Bangash, government officials, social organization representatives and students were also present on the occasion.
