Many roads that were affected by the construction of the metro-bus in Rawalpindi/Islamabad are still lying unfinished, hindering the flow of traffic. The Peshawar Mor interchange has disconnected the capital city’s main roads right in the middle and there seems to be no completion in sight. One complete side of Stadium Road, which was completely dug up, does not seem to be on anybody’s radar even when it is a very important artery connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Moreover, the elimination of U-turns on Jinnah Avenue has made it utterly useless for those who have to visit Blue Area.
The administration has initiated the expansion project on the Islamabad Expressway when many alternate routes are still disconnected, making travel for people a constant nightmare in the capital. Since the latest project and those in the pipeline will take quite some time, every year is proving to be a bigger torture for the residents of the twin cities than the previous one – thanks to ill-conceived projects and bad planning.
