ISLAMABAD: The Municipal Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) de-sealed the building housing central secretariat of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Sector G-8/4, here on Wednesday.

The Directorate of Emergency and Emergency Disaster Management of the MCI de-sealed the office on directives of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) which were issued on Tuesday.

“In compliance with the orders of the Islamabad High Court, the subject plot is being de-sealed by Director Emergency and Disaster Management of MCI with immediate,” the de-sealing orders of the directorate said.

However, the de-sealing order at the same time mentioned that in case of non-compliance to provisions of fire safety bye-laws, as recorded in the IHC judgment dated July 30, 2024, within seven days, the building would be liable to be sealed within the provisions of Islamabad Fire Prevention and Life Safety Regulations, 2010.

The PTI central secretariat was sealed by the MCI for violation of fire safety bye-laws. Advocate Shaista Khosa received de-sealing order, which warned against fulfilling fire safety provisions of bye-laws with objection that there was no clause or mention that they (MCI) can seal building again after seven days.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in NA Omar Ayub Khan expressed profound grief over the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh. He vehemently condemned the Israeli attack on the Hamas leader, describing it as a shameful example of brutality and aggression.

He said the attack on Haniyeh was a blatant violation of international laws and values. He denounced the killing of the Hamas leader on Iranian soil, calling it a heinous act. The opposition leader condemned the Israeli operation in Iran as a horrific step.

He emphasised that the world had failed to rein in Israeli terrorism, highlighting that Israel had perpetuated a reign of oppression and brutality in Palestine. Omar urged the international community to take concrete steps to halt Israel’s actions. He added that the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh had escalated the risk of increased conflict, raising concerns over further violence.
