This refers to the news report, ‘NAB arrests Ministry of Foreign Affairs director’ (May 18). Only a few days back, Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani (now suspended) was arrested for hiding millions of rupees in his house. Moreover, a assistant director in NAB was also arrested for corruption. Does anyone know of a single clean and honest department in this land of the pure? If there is one, kindly let us know.
Where have honest officers gone? Why can dishonest people not be detected by their superiors during early stages of their career and taken care of? How can they be allowed to rise to such high grades? This is possible only when they were in cahoots with their superior reporting officers. It is time we overhauled our bureaucracy and the bureaucratic system to get rid of corrupt and dishonest officers.
